二じゅうねんごのわたしはさんじゅうはっさいです。わたしのうちはニューヨークでアパートです。びじゅつかnではたらきます。でも、しゅうまつにびじゅのえおかきます。おっとがいます。そして、こどもがほしいです。しゅうまつにかぞくとえいがへいきます。やすみにたくさんほんをよみます。クラシクのこんせーとへいきます。ニューヨークはとてめにぎやかですから、わたしのうちはここにあります。パリさでおっととけっこんします。せいかつはいいです。

I know there are mistakes in my Japanese in the manga... すみません！

Katakana Analysis
レムネ Ramune
ピンポンピンポーン Pinponpinpooon.
The first term, ラムネ、I thought it was just a name for a very delicious japanese soda. Or maybe, I thought, it wasn't Japanese since the name was in カタカナ. But さとうせんせい enlightened me to the fact that ラムネis a perpetuation of the word Lemonade, Lemonade eventually became Ramune or ラムネ。 Which is funny, because I think the soda tastes like bubblegum.
As for ピンポーン、I used to read a lot of manga and I remember not understanding what the little leftover symbols were for. Now I see that they're little onomatopoeias, kind of like KA-POW in American comics. In this case the ピンポンピンポーンwas the sound of a doorbell repetitively ringing.

ありちの
おはようございます。
きのうごぜんよじにねます。（；ー；）Anyway...
Though not so much recently, I was a big fan of あにめ and まんが.
I was one of those kids who stayed up late at night to watch the anime shows on Cartoon Network. Earlier shows like Sailor Moon and Pokemon were staples in my childhood as well.
For manga, I read a few of the big titles, but one of my favorites, today even, is the less popular Alichino by Kouyu Shurei (see image). The men look like women (but they always do in manga for women..) and the plot jumps around, but every page of the three published volumes is just so beautiful, so perfectly rendered, I still love this series!

ぽにょ
こんばんは！
After さとうーせんせい showed us some of our classmate's first posts I was like, wow, mine was really boring.So here's a picture of Ponyo that I made. (Why is she in water? Because she's a goldfish! Actually, I just can't draw feet.) (Also my scanner is not working so I'm sorry for the bad quality photo.)
I am a big fan of Miyazaki-san. His latest movie, Ponyo (ガけのうえのぽにょ), is still out in theaters. You can buy cheap tickets at the CUArts Booth in Lerner (いくらでせか。ななえん です！やすい。）If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it! It's very cute and has lots of beautiful imagery. My favorite movie by Miyazaki-san is still Spirited Away (せんとちひろのかみかくし ）, but isn't everyone's?

I have always wanted to study Japanese. Of all the courses I am taking at Columbia, this is the most fulfilling for me, even if it is a lot of work. I think the fact that I just posted a blog entry in Japanese is amazing. I can't wait to be able to speak the language more fluently (and actually be able to read hiragana better). Sometimes I go to my dorm after Japanese and I'm like, "I have all this work? I just did a lot!" But ultimately I am thrilled to be learning this language that I love so quickly.
